Virtual Site Tours
Immerse your classroom in historically and geographically significant places across Australia. Designed for Stage 3 Geography and HSIE syllabus outcomes, our digital field trips bring complex landscapes, industrial transformations, and cultural heritage directly to your students.

Holroyd Gardens: from brickpit to urban sanctuary
Step inside Merrylands' tranquil 8.1-hectare park with its duck ponds, native gardens, and open lawns. Over a century ago, this site operated as the Goodlet & Smith Brickworks, an active industrial hub that supplied materials to build Western Sydney. Students investigate how communities shape, exhaust, and remediate the land around them, uncovering historical clues hidden in plain sight.

Interactive field work and primary sources
Every tour embeds authentic inquiry tools to prepare students for physical excursions or provide standalone digital fieldwork. Learners investigate audio recordings, historic site photographs, comparative maps, and data tables.

Connecting syllabus outcomes to living spaces
Rather than studying sustainability and human impact in the abstract, Stage 1 students evaluate genuine management strategies in places they may already recognise.
They examine local heritage conservation, explore appropriate history representations guided by community consent, and propose their own solutions for safeguarding vulnerable environments.
History – The Past in the Present
- HS1-HIS-01 (History): identifies and describes significant people, events, places and sites in the local community over time. At the park, students compare “then and now” photos of the brickworks and name what has changed and what has stayed the same, such as the kilns.
Geography – Features of Places / People and Places
-
HS1-GEO-01 (Geography): Describes ways people connect to and care for places, water environments and each other, using geographical information. At the park, students identify natural features (trees and creeks) and built features (rotunda, paths, play equipment and kilns), then discuss how people use, connect with and care for the park.
